About Dr Nour Kabbani

Dr. Nour Kabbani was born in Beirut in 1971, where he was raised by his parents, As-Sayyid Shaykh Hisham Kabbani and Hajjah Naziha Adil Kabbani, respective deputy and daughter of the late As-Sayyid Shaykh Muhammad Nazim Adil an-Naqshbandi (d. 2014), Chief Scholar of Hanafi Fiqh in Turkey and founder of the Naqshbandiyya Nazimiyya Sufi Order.

At age 11, Dr. Nour began attending his grandfather’s lectures on the Islamic Sciences of Fiqh (Shari’a), `Aqida (Doctrine), and Akhlaq (Islamic Ethics). He also studied under his father, a scholar of Shafi`i Fiqh and Asha`ri `Aqida. With the special du`a of renowned Naqshbandi Shaykh, Sayyidi `AbdAllah al-Fa’iz ad-Daghestani (q) of Damascus, he trained under As-Sayyid Shaykh Nazim (q) and became proficient in Tafsir al-Qur`an and Tafsir al-Hadith, specifically the doctrine of Ahl as-Sunnah wa ‘l-Jama`ah. He is fluent in Arabic, Turkish and English.

Dr. Nour acquired his M.D. in Internal Medicine at the University of Marmara in Istanbul, Turkey. Afterwards, he moved to New York City, became an American citizen and completed his residency at Colombia University, St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital.

Since moving to America, Dr. Nour continued his Islamic education two-to-three months each year in Cyprus, where he studied deeper aspects of Islamic Sciences under his noble grandfather, Shaykh Nazim, who authorized him to give khutbahs, lectures and lead dhikr (meditation). His talks reflect the nurturing wisdom of his illustrious teachers who have brought Islam to hundreds of thousands of converts and revitalized the faith of millions of Muslims around the world.

Due to his unique life experience and noble lineage, Western audiences in particular resonate with his advice, which they find practical and spiritually uplifting. In the US, Dr. Nour has addressed groups in Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Michigan, New York, New Jersey, and Metro Washington DC. In Canada, his tours of Montreal, Ottawa and London were highly successful. Since 2015, his UK tours have attracted a strong youth following, much like when his beloved grandfather first toured England in the mid-1970s.
